
The FCBAI invites all interested individuals
(bakers, chefs, students, etc.) to join
and decorate this (pre-done) cake decorating
contest and get the chance to be among
the top 3 winners for each category: FONDANT,
BOILED ICING & SUGAR ARTS. It's also
an opportunity to be featured during the
Bakery Fair 2009 on February 19-21, 2009
at the World Trade Center, Manila.
Contest Guidelines:
- The contest is open to all INDIVIDUALS
only, professionals or non-professionals.
Schools, hotels, companies (corporate)
are not allowed to join. Contestants
must submit a fully accomplished REGISTRATION
FORM and pay the joining bond of PHP
2,000.00 (to be paid upon submission
but to be returned after the exhibit).
Each contestant is allowed to submit
a ready- to-display (pre-done) decorated
CAKE or SUGAR ARTS entry. A contestant
can submit only one entry PER CATEGORY.
The Cake Competition Committee reserves
the right to pre-screen all the entries.
Qualified contestants will be notified
in writing by FCBAI which should serve
as permit to join (please bring said
notification during ingress).
- Each entry must conform to 1 square
meter dimension following the specifications
below:
- FONDANT CAKE CATEGORY: A maximum
height limit of 15 inches.
Theme: ORIENTAL WEDDING
- BOILED ICING CAKE CATEGORY: A
maximum height limit of 24 inches
or 2 feet.
Theme: PHILIPPINE SCENERIES
- SUGAR ARTS: Any edible Gum Paste
based cake décor (Must be
placed on top of 12 inches X 12
inches Glass - thickness of ¼
inch)
- All entries must be accompanied by
its necessary trimmings or accessories
since FCBAI will only provide a 1-square-meter
table each for the BOILED ICING CAKES
and SUGAR ARTS. A 24 inch diameter cocktail
table each will be provided for the
FONDANT CAKES. All covered with white
cloth. Entries that may require electricity
or water should be coordinated with
the CAKE COMPETITION COMMITTEE upon
registration.
- To join, simply register by accomplishing
the CAKE CONTEST REGISTRATION FORM available
in FCBAI (please contact AILEEN @ 254-2526,
254-2518) and submit form on or before
October 15, 2008. A joining bond (deposit)
of Php 2,000.00 per entry per contestant
will be required upon submission of
registration form. Said bond(deposit)
will be returned after the BAKERY FAIR
2009 by the CAKE COMMITTEE (please claim
check/cash @ Registration Counter, starting
at 5pm, February 21, 2009).
- All entries will be assigned with
numbers on the day the cakes and sugar
arts will be judged. Putting labels
or signs on them will be strictly prohibited.
Violators will be disqualified. All
entries must be fully decorated and
submitted for final judging no later
than 7:30AM on February 19, 2009. All
contestants and their assistants or
representatives must leave the exhibition
hall by 7:30 am on February 19, 2009
to allow the closed-door judging to
commence. Violators will be immediately
disqualified.
- Participants can join in 3 categories:
- FONDANT CAKES - ORIENTAL WEDDING
- BOILED ICING CAKES - PHILIPPINE
SCENERIES
- SUGAR ARTS - ANY THEME
Participants may also join in other
FCBAI-sanctioned competitions during
the BAKERY FAIR'09.
Each category will have 3 winners
to be ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place.

Winners will be announced on the 1ST
day right after the results have been
finalized. On the 2nd night of the Bakery
Fair (February 20, 2009, Fellowship
Night), winners will be formally honored
and recognized and will receive their
cash prizes and plaques.

The decision of the Board of Judges
is final.
- Entries will be judged accordingly:
- 1st Phase - Each judge will score
each entry using the score sheet;
- 2nd Phase - Each judge will rank
(1st-10nth) the entries based on
each entry's final score with 1
being the highest rank;
- 3rd Phase - All rank scores will
be tabulated and the top 3 entries
with the lowest scores will be the
top 3 winners to be ranked 1st to
3rd.
Above method will be used for all
categories.
The Cake Competition Committee should
handle, supervise the judging and
tabulation. Final results must be
concurred by the Board of Judges with
their signatures on the tally sheet.
- All participants will be required
to attend the briefing with the CAKE
COMPETITION COMMITTEE. Meeting place
will be at the FCBAI Headquarters (1967
Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila) November
12, 2008, 1:30 pm sharp. Participants
who fail to attend the briefing will
be disqualified and their respective
slots will be forfeited in favor of
other applicants.
- All participants (especially the winners)
are required to refresh & re-touch
their entries every day during the BAKERY
FAIR 2009. Likewise, all contestants
are advised to consider ingress schedule
(please coordinate with FCBAI), the
exhibition hall's humidity, temperature
and power supply concerns.
- FCBAI Board of Directors, Contest
Judges and members of Cake Competition
Committee and their relatives up to
2nd degree of consanguinity are disqualified
to join this contest.
